The Maples

The Maples wedding and event is located out in the farmland of Woodland California about 22 miles north of downtown Sacramento. This stunning 55 acre property is home to a fully remodeled 1930’s ranch house along with it’s classic barn stable that was used for the every first Yolo County Fair. This massive homestead has been updated to modern times and is just a joy to walk around to see all the updated history and lush garden space that this venue and event center has to offer. This property is a true gem to the Woodland and greater Sacramento area.

During the getting ready part of the day The Maples will have you covered with two getting ready suites. The Bridal suite is located in the main house just off of the courtyard. This bridal suite is big enough to handle the largest of bridal parties and comes equipped with a full make up and hair bar station. This will be a huge benefit to your hair and make up artist on your wedding day. This room also comes with it’s own couches and chairs for relaxing. Plus it has it’s own private bathroom too. The groom’s den is located in the basement of the house. This area has been turned into a man cave for the groomsmen and groom to enjoy while they get ready before the start of the ceremony. This basement area is massive and comes equipped with couches, chairs and a pool table to enjoy a couple of games before all the important events start of the day.

Ceremonies can be held a couple different locations around the property at The Maples. The first and most popular is ceremony site is the Homestead or Lawn area that is located right next to the ranch house. You’ll tie the knot under a massive Chinese Pistache tree that will be the backdrop for your wedding, which gives you plenty of shade too. This area can host up to 300 guest for your nuptials. The Maples Stables is the second location on the grounds for couples to host their ceremony at. The stables green barn doors and the building itself will be the classic backdrop for your vows and first kiss to take place in front of, while your friends and family members watch with enjoyment. This location can accommodate up to 200 guest. Depending on the size of your wedding guest count and what type of backdrop you want during your ceremony you’ll have a tough time deciding what location to pick from since they are both excellent sites to host your nuptials at.

When your ceremony is over and you’re a married couple finishing up family and bridal party photos the rest of your guest will be enjoying cocktail hour near the homestead. One location where cocktail hour can be hosted at is the outdoor fireplace area located behind the pool. Another area that hors d’oeuvres and cocktail hour can take place at is the courtyard area, which is located in-between the main house. Besides these two locations your guest are more than welcome to explore and walk the grounds during this time of day. The Maples also has a bocce ball court and horseshoe pit for guest to enjoy, while they wait for the start of dinner service and your grand entrance.

After you’re finished with all your formal family portraits and bridal party photos you’ll be able to explore the grounds at The Maples Woodland with your wedding photographer to capture your couples portraits. The 55 acre property is massive and it’s best that you just stick around the main house for these photos. One of popular areas for these portraits to take place at is the barn Stable area and the surround gardens that lead the way from the main house to the stables. There are many unique locations along this path that leads to the staple barn. Then you have the stable barn building, which creates a classic rustic backdrop for these portraits. Another area that lots of couples have their photographs take at is the front white wall and formal entrance gate to the main house. This area reminds me of an entrance to a Mexican hacienda with it’s white adobe walls. This location also has a couple of massive oak trees that boarder the wall. This location is great for photos anytime of the day. Right next to the entrance is the most popular location, which is the road itself that leads up to the Maples. This roadway is lined with giant olive trees an each side of the road that leads to the gate entrance. When the late afternoon sunlight shines through these trees you are in for a treat. You’ll understand why this area is so picturesque. There are many other hidden areas for portraits through out the grounds, but these are the top three spots that most couples have their pictures taken at.

Reception and dinner services at The Maples can take place in two different locations. The first and the largest location is the lawn area right next to the main house. This area is big enough to host up to 300 of your closet friends and family members. This lawn area is expansive so you’re able to arrange the tables in many formations that fit your taste. The other area that can host receptions is the main house courtyard. This site is geared towards smaller weddings, but can still seat up to 150 guest. Just beyond the lawn area is the bar building and dance floor. Once your dinner service and speeches are finished for the evening the rest of your party will take place over in this location.

If you’re looking for a classic and updated outdoor wedding venue that’s close to the Sacramento area you should put the Maples on your list of venues to see. I’m telling you that once you see this venue with your own eyes you’ll fall in love and realize that this is the one.
