Mavericks House is a wedding and event center located in the Northern California costal town of Half Moon Bay. This venue is a true waterfront location with their property situated right along the waters edge of the Pacific Ocean. It’s located in Pillar Point Harbor area of Half Moon Bay and is owned and operated by the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company. Their 2,000 square foot ballroom has 180 degree views of the ocean along with tons beach town charm.
Mavericks House has a massive bridal suite for the getting ready part of your day. The entire second floor of the building is one open studio loft that has been transformed into a gorgeous bridal suite. There are many chairs and couches for your friends and you to relax on during this part of the wedding day. There is also plenty of space for your hair and makeup to take place at and still have lots of room to roam around freely. The only downside is that there is no other getting ready location for the groom and his groomsmen to get ready at. This means that guys will have to get ready off site. Luckily the town of Half Moon Bay has plenty of hotels and rental homes for you to book and get ready in. When the getting ready part of your day is finished the ceremony will be right around the corner.
Mavericks House ceremony site is located on the private garden lawn adjacent to the reception building. Location is key for when couples are choosing to book venues for their special day and Mavericks House location is in a prime spot with the ceremony site overlooking the ocean. This private shoreline ceremony area is what most couples dream of and this Half Moon Bay venue has it. Your ceremony backdrop while you recite your vows will be the surrounding ocean and shoreline that will leave your guest stunned by the pure beauty of the views. The lawn is lined by some massive pacific cypress trees that add to the already breathtaking grounds around the ceremony lawn. This ceremony site is big enough to host up to 140 of your closest friends and family members. The ceremony site is just a short walk from the reception building.
When your ceremony is over and you’re having bridal party and immediate family pictures taken your guest will be able to enjoy cocktail hour out on the back deck of the Mavericks House. During this time your guest will be enjoying cocktails and beers from the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company while eating hors d’oeuvres from the amazing in-house chefs at the venue. This cocktail hour deck jets out over the ocean water and gives you those amazing 180 degree views of the surrounding shoreline. This deck is such a popular spot for guest. Even when it’s time to head to the reception guest will still come back out and enjoy the views from this balcony. Your guests are also welcomed to walk around the grounds and take in the views of the surrounding area or head inside the Mavericks House.
When the two of you are finished with all your formal group portraits you’ll be able to walk around with your wedding photographer for your couple’s portraits. Most couples who book Mavericks House for their wedding day know that they’ll be having most of their couples portraits taken on the garden lawn area. Even though this area is the same spot for your nuptials it’s one of the most amazing spots on the property. You have the beautiful views of the ocean and shoreline along with the pacific cypress trees. This area is perfect for those romantic wedding day couples portraits. There is also another lawn area next to the ceremony site that is equally breathtaking for photos with your loved one. The back edge of the lawn area and the walk way leading back over to the reception area has some great locations for portraits too. There is also a very steep old boat launch that is accessible by walking through some ground covering shrubs that will lead you down to the waters edge for portraits. You also have the option to go back inside up to the second floor of the bridal suite area for more of a secluded spot away from your guest. On cold overcast days going inside for awhile to have your portraits taken isn’t a bad thing since your be able to warm up at the same time. There are some other hidden locations around the building that can lend themselves to the portrait part of the day.
Reception events and dinner service can take place in two different locations on the property at Mavericks House. The first reception and meal service site is the inside ballroom area of the Mavericks House. The indoor reception area can host up to 102 seated guests with plenty of room to still have a dance floor area. This reception area has huge glass windows that looks out to the bay with 180 degree views of the ocean. No matter where you end up at this venue you’ll most like have an ocean view. The second and larger location to host your wedding reception is the Oceanfront lawn which can host up to 150 seated guests for dinner service and speeches. If you’re wanting that outdoor ocean dinner vibe than this is the location for you. When your meal service and formal speeches are finished for the evening your dance party will take place inside the ballroom area. During this time your guests are more than welcome to dance the night away or go back out to the balcony area and relax while taking in the ocean air.
